What is Kiltix for dogs?

Kiltix is a medicated collar that treats and controls fleas and ticks on dogs. These external parasites not cause irritation to your dog, but can carry and transmit diseases. Paralysis ticks are particularly dangerous as the toxins released while feeding on your dog can cause paralysis and even death.

Kiltix is effective against fleas for 5 months, against brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and bush ticks (Haemaphysalislongicornis) for up to 5 months and against paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus) for up to 6 weeks.

Benefits

  • Fast acting – starts killing fleas immediately
  • Protects for up to 5 months
  • Fits dogs of all sizes

Is Kiltix suitable for my dog?

The Kiltix collar is suitable for healthy dogs over 3 months (12 weeks of age). There are no weight restrictions for use, and the one-size collar can be adjusted to suit dogs of all sizes.

Although there are no expected adverse effects for use with pregnant or nursing dogs, the safety of Kiltix collars has not been established for use during pregnancy and lactation.

What are the side effects of Kiltix?

Adverse reactions to the collar are rare but may occur when the collar is chewed or when used with contraindicated products. Reported side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, excessive salivation, weakness, and paralysis.

If any adverse reactions do occur, remove the collar immediately.

What precautions must be taken?

  • For canine use only – do not use on cats or other animals.
  • Do not allow pets to chew on the collar.
  • The collar should be worn continuously except when swimming or bathing.
  • Do not use on dogs under 3 months of age.
  • Do not use on sick or convalescing dogs.
  • Not evaluated as safe for use with pregnant or nursing dogs.
  • Contraindicated for use with any other organophosphate/anticholinesterase pesticide.

How effective is Kiltix (Flumethrin, Propoxur)?

The Kiltix collar will begin to kill fleas immediately upon placing around the dog’s neck and will continue to be effective for 5 months. The collar will control brown dog ticks and bush ticks, and provide a high level of control (but not full protection) against paralysis ticks. Daily searching of your dog and removal of ticks is recommended. For dogs with thick double coats, tick protection may take up to 1 week to be effective.

Although the collar resists the effect of water, it is recommended to remove the collar for swimming and bathing to retain maximum effectiveness.

As environmental conditions vary, it may be necessary to replace the collar more frequently.

Great Service! Good Prices! Fast Ship especially for International. The Kiltix Tick Collars have been AMAZING FOR OUR DOGS! Especially ours in a yard by acres wooded land and no houses. Every year products I always use with success for fleas, heartworms etc. never tackled the ticks successfully. Especially dogs in our back yard exposed to many more because of wildlife. These collars really work amazingly and longer than one month to boot! 1st time ever a Border Collie of ours wasn’t covered with ticks despite treating our yard, using Frontline Spray, even dips. I hadn’t tried a flea or tick collar for dogs since I was a kid Many years ago! When that was all they had other than dip and they were about worthless! But the price was right so I tried them. I was Amazed how well they work and how long! We and the dogs are Happy! With multiple dogs Frontline Spray has always been the most cost effective product I can depend on to work. My only disappointment is that Pet Bucket doesn’t carry it and I HAVE to go elsewhere to purchase it. But the collars, heartworm meds and Revolution or Stronghold for our 10cats I really save money here! We have several acres and a smaller "cat yard" inside a larger fenced yard with many acres all around. The "cat yard" has worked for our cats to go in & out a cat door we have to the back of our house. Why? Because "Sammy" our Border Collie thinks HIS JOB is to keep those cats corralled to THEIR YARD! ANY Wannabe escapees are quickly herded back to the safety of the smaller cat yard! The few who tried soon got disgusted and just look at him with disgust now. Any Border Collie Owners KNOW how much a Border Collie NEEDS a job or he will MAKE one not always good! Here is a pic of Midnight one of our cats who never messed with trying to go farther! She's a rescue as all our pets are. This pic looks good for Halloween because she's a Black Cat and it looks like she is Mesmerised by a lit Candle. OKIE owner of a small Ponderosa home to many strays that found us!
